Cricketers who acted in bollywood movies

This is just a few of the instances where cricketers have been bitten by the Bollywood bug. While the trend started nearly 40 years ago, it still continues:
MOHINDER AMARNATH, AKASH CHOPRA, RAMIZ RAJA, ATUL WASSAN
Movie : DISHOOM (2016)

DISHOOM is a movie in which a cricketer gets kidnapped. So its obvious that lot of cricketers will be there.


S. SREESANTH
Movie : CABARET (upcoming)

Sreesanth is going to debut with Pooja Bhatt's movie Cabaret which also stars Richa Chadda & Gaurav Devaiyyah. He was also contestant of dance show Jhalak Dikhla Jaa 7.


ANGAD BEDI
Movie : F.A.L.T.U (2011), UNGLI (2014)

Angad Bedi is the son of yesteryear spinner Bishan Singh Bedi. He had played domestic cricket but was unable to replicate the success of his father. He has also hosted a season of Emotional Atyachar on bindass channel.


SALIL ANKOLA
Movie : KURUKSHETRA (2000), CHURA LIYA HAI TUMNE (2003)

He made his test debut along with Sachin Tenulkar vs. Pakistan and was also part of 1996 World Cup squad.He made his bollywood debut with "Kurukshetra" where he essayed a role of cop. He also played main villain in movie Chura Liya Hai Tumne which marks the debut of Zayed Khan. He had also acted in many soap operas like Shhh... Koi Hai, Vikraal Aur Gabraal, Kora Kaagaz etc. Currently he is a participant in "Power Couples".


VINOD KAMBLI
Movie : ANNARTH (2002)

He had debut with movie Annarth with also features Suniel Shetty, Sanjay Dutt. Currently, he is doing a supporting role in Kannada movie Bettanagere.

AJAY JADEJA
Movie : KHEL (2003)

His first film was Khel where he played love interest of Celina Jaitely. In 2009, he acted in another movie named Pal Pal Dil ke Ssaat. He had also done a cameo in Abhishek Kapoor's Kai Po Che (2013).

KAPIL DEV
Movie : MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI (2003), IQBAL (2005)

The Haryana Hurricane has done cameo in many movies like Iqbal, Stumped, Mujhse Shaadi Karogi etc.

YOGRAJ SINGH
Movie : BHAAG MILKHA BHAAG (2013), SINGH IS BLING (2015)

He had  acted in dozen of punjabi movies. In bollywood, he had played the role of coach of Milkha Singh in Bhaag Milkha Bhaag and father of Akshay Kumar in Singh in Bling.


SYED KIRMANI
Movie : KABHI AJNABI THE (1985)

Syed Kirmani had played the role of underworld character in movie Kabhi Ajnabi The. He also plays a cameo role in an 2012 Malayalam film entitled Mazhavillinattam Vare. He will be playing himself in the film which is about a young Pakistani cricketer's life-changing journey.

SANDIP PATIL
Movie : KABHI AJNABI THE (1985)

Sandip Patil played the role of hero in the same movie (Kabhi Ajnabi The) in which Syed Kirmani played villain.





MOHSIN KHAN
Movie : BATWARA (1989), FATEH (1991)

Mohsin Khan,the Pakistani cricketer, debuted with J.P. Dutta's movie Batwara which has ensemble cast of Dharmendra, Vinod Khanna,Dimple Kapadia, Poonam Dhillon, Shammi Kapoor etc. He also did movies like Fateh with Sanjay Dutt and Saathi in 1991 with Aditya Pancholi, which was directed by Mahesh Bhatt.
He married bollywood actress Reena Roy.

SALIM DURRANI
Movie : CHARITRA (1973)

Salim Durrani and Parveen Babi, both, debuted from the movie Charitra.




SUNIL GAVASKAR
Movie : MAALAMAAL (1988)

Sunil Gavaskar acted in Movie Maalamaal alongwith Naseeruddin Shah, Poonam Dhillon and Aditya Pancholi.
He had also worked iin Marathi movie "Savli Premachi".




There are some movies in which many cricketers has guest appearances. They are -
MUJHSE SHAADI KAROGI (2003)

In the climax scenes, this movie has handful of cricketers:
Kapil Dev, Irfan Pathan, Ashish Nehra, Harbhajan Singh, Parthiv Patel, Mohammad Kaif, Navjot Singh Sidhu.

VICTORY (2008)

In this movie Harman Baweja played the role of a cricketer. Many cricketer appears in the match scenes of the movie. Some of them are:
Dinesh Karthik, R.P.Singh,Praveen Kumar,Brett Lee, Mutthiah Muralidharan, Chaminda Vaas,Brad Hogg, Stuart Clark and Simon Katich, Simon Katich, Greame Smith, A.B.DeVilliers.

PATIALA HOUSE (2011)

This Akshay Kumar starrer showcases many foreign players in guest appearance:

Kamran Akmal, Andrew Symonds, Graham Gooch, Nasser Hussain, David Gower,Sir Ian Botham,Dirk Nannes,Kieron Pollard.
