Bollywood in Guinness World Records

Here are few bollywood records which find their entry to the Guinness book of World records.

BOLLYWOOD -largest annual film output
India is the world’s largest film-making nation, with 1,724 feature films produced in 2013, according to India's Central Board of Film Certification. While the USA had only released 738 movies in the same year. Bollywood is followed by Nollywood(the movie industry of Nigeria) – which, according to estimates from UNESCO's Institute of Statistics, produces around 1,000 feature films each year.

SAMEER ANJAAN -most prolific bollywood lyricist
The most prolific Bollywood lyricist is Shitla 'Sameer' Pandey, who wrote the lyrics to 3,524 songs that appeared in 650 Bollywood movies as verified on 15 December 2015.

JAGDISH RAJ -most type-cast actor
Jagdish Raj holds the holds a Guinness World Record record for being the most type-cast actor. He played a police inspector in 144 films.

KUMAR SANU -most songs recorded in a day
Kumar Sanu made this record in 1993 when he recorded 28 songs in a single day. Sanu was one of the most popular singers in the '90s with songs like Tujhe Dekha To (Dilwale Dulhania Le Jayenge), Ek Ladki Ko Dekha (1942: A Love Story); etc.

ASHA BHONSLE -most recorded artist
Asha Bhosle has recorded up to 11000 solo, duets and chorus backed songs and several others in over 20 Indian languages since 1947. She was officially acknowledged by the Guinness Book of World Records as the most recorded artist in music history in 2011.


KAPOORS -largest screen family
The Kapoors hold the Guinness record for the largest screen family. Since Prithviraj Kapoor first entered the profession in 1929, 24 members of the Kapoor extended family have acted in films.

KAHO NAA PYAAR HAI -most number of awards to a movie
This film which introduces Hrithik Roshan and Ameesha Patel became a phenomenal hit and won a total of 92 awards getting it a spot in the 2002 edition of the Guinness Book of World Records for most number of awards won by a film.

SUNIL DUTT -fewest actor in a movie
The movie "YAADEIN" released in 1964, features Sunil Dutt, as the only actor in this 113 minutes movie.
It entered the the Guinness Book of World Records in the category Fewest actors in a narrative film.

LALITA PAWAR -longest career as a bollywood actress
The Bollywood actress with the longest film career was Lalita Pawar (India, 1918-98), who acted continuously for 70 years. She made her debut at the age of 12 and appeared in more than 700 films.

QAIS AUR LAILA -longest production of a bollywood Film
Love and God (Qais aur Laila) (1986) took more than 20 years to make after running into a series of difficulties, including the deaths of lead actor Guru Dutt in 1964 and director K. Asif in 1971. The incomplete film was finally released in 1986, with Sanjeev Kumar taking over the lead role.

Most generations of actresses in one family
Kajol, who has starred in a string of box office successes, is one of three generations of Bollywood actresses. Her mother Tanuja and aunt Nutan were both leading actresses in the 1960s, while her grandmother Shobhana Samarth starred in numerous 1940s hits.
